Virtual Skipping Competition
Skip for A Min
Our aim for this competition, is to encourage children to keep learning to skip and to get fitter by practising each day. We have had the Skip Hop Hurray Day on the 23rd September which you can see in the previous page and now want to keep the momentum going by doing daily skipping.
The rules are simple.
Children can work in pairs if they have siblings and if not with an adult – Child A is the official, Child B is the skipper. Child A times 1 minute and counts how many skips Child B can do. Children then swap places. Depending on their age, children can time using a sand timer or stopwatch, or teacher/adult can start and stop, and supporting children or adult can do the counting.
There is a daily record card for each child for the children to complete. Find these below.
At the end of the Spring term please send in your score cards to firstname.lastname@example.org to Mr Hillis to send your card off to the virtual competition for your year group. Please make sure to put your first name only and your year group on the card visible.
The highest scores for each year group from EYFS to Year 6 will then win medals and each child will receive a certificate for participation.
Please do not buy a skipping rope if you do not have one, you can skip using a hula hoop or you can skip on the spot virtually by imagining you have a skipping rope in your hands and recording how many jumps you do in one minute.
