    Homework

    📚 Reading
Children are expected to read at home at least three times each week and should record this in their reading record. Regular reading will help children achieve their reading certificates and is one of the most important ways to develop vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and wider knowledge. Reading certificates will be awarded for: 50 reads Bronze, 100 reads Silver, 150 reads Gold and 250 reads Platinum.

    Maths
Our focus will be on developing quick and confident recall of multiplication facts in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Check which al Year 4 children will sit in June. Children should regularly practise using:

    ✏️ Spelling
Children should practise their age-appropriate statutory spellings, which can be found in the middle of their reading records or in the 'Useful Links and Resources' section below. Children can use SpellingFrame https://spellingframe.co.uk/ or practise in other ways, such as Look, Cover, Write, Check, identifying tricky parts of words or completing a quick spelling test.

    ✏️Still want more?!

Writing Bingo can be found at the bottom of our class page, with any accompanying resources.

    Snack

Most children require a snack at morning break to keep them going through the day. We encourage children to bring in healthy snacks. Many of these will help contribute to their 5 daily portions of fruit and vegetables, keep them alert and help them concentrate. Some suggestions:

    • Vegetables/vegetable sticks - celery, cucumber, peppers or carrots.
    • A piece of cheese - cheddar cheese or Babybel
    • A piece of fresh or dried fruit - pineapple, mango, kiwi, plain raisins, apricots, blueberries, banana slices.
    • Breads are also good snacks - break sticks, plain pretzels, banana bread, malt loaf, oat/rice cakes and small pitta.

We are aiming for a common-sense approach, with the key being to keep it healthy and no chocolates, sweets or crisps during breaktimes.
