Meet the Governors
Our Local Governing Body
Maltese Road Primary School has a Local Governing Body (LGB) made up of parents, staff, local residents and community representatives. Our governors bring a range of skills and experiences to support the school and its pupils.
The LGB’s key responsibilities are to:
- Provide strategic direction for the school.
- Hold senior leaders to account for the school’s performance.
- Ensure financial, curriculum and academic accountability.
The full governing body meets four times a year, with its work feeding into the Academy Trust’s Board of Trustees. Governors also carry out monitoring visits annually to support and challenge school leaders, including reviewing progress against the School Development Plan and the school’s self-evaluation.
How are our governors appointed?
Our Local Governing Body includes governors, who are appointed through different routes, ensuring a range of voices and perspectives within the school community.
- Trust Governors (T) are appointed by the Trustees of the Academy Trust. They help ensure that the school’s work aligns with the wider aims and responsibilities of the Trust.
- Staff Governors (S)are elected/appointed by members of the school staff. They bring the views and experience of staff to the governing body.
- Parent Governors (P) are elected/appointed by the parent body. They provide an important parent perspective and help ensure that the views of families are represented.

Community Governor (C) Community Governors bring knowledge and experience from the local community to support the school and its development.
