Start and finish times

In Year 2, our school day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 2:50pm. Children with older siblings, must be collected by 3pm. 
 

PE

We will be having PE outside on a Wednesday and Thursday and the children need to come into school wearing their PE kit on these days. They do not need to bring uniform to change into. Please make sure your child is appropriate dressed e.g. warm tracksuit or sweatshirt.

Homework

The children will be set weekly writing, maths and reading homework. In addition to this, each term the children will receive topic based Nandos challenges. This homework is optional and does not need to be completed every week. You will find login details for Purple Mash in their homework folders.

Homework will be sent home on a Friday and must be returned for marking by the following Thursday. Please note that if homework is handed in at a later date, it will not be marked.

Reading

Children will be sent home with two reading books at a time. The children are responsible for changing their books when they need to. To encourage fluency, we suggest that children read their school books several times at home before changing them. Every time the children read at home, their name is put into our super reader pot. During our Friday assembly, a name is pulled out at random and their reading is celebrated with the whole school. 

The children will participate in whole class reading lessons twice a week and will be individually listened to once a fortnight. 

Snack

The children in KS1 receive a healthy snack in the morning. If they would like a healthy snack for afternoon break, please feel free to put one in their bag.
